Canada has extended its Ebola temporary measures until September 28, 2026, according to an IRCC visitor visa eligibility page. The page directs readers to further information about the measures.
Canada visitor visa basic requirements
The IRCC page states that people applying for a visitor visa must meet basic requirements. These include having a valid travel document, such as a passport, and having no criminal or immigration-related convictions.
Applicants must also convince an immigration officer that they have ties to their home country, such as a job, home, financial assets or family, and that they will leave Canada at the end of their visit. They must have enough money for their stay; the amount needed depends on the length of the stay and whether they will stay in a hotel or with friends or relatives.
Depending on their situation, applicants may also need a medical exam and a letter of invitation from someone living in Canada. IRCC advises applicants to check the document list for their situation.
Inadmissibility and travelling with children
The page notes that some people are inadmissible to Canada and therefore cannot enter the country. It lists involvement in human rights violations among possible reasons and says inadmissibility can also arise for security, health or financial reasons.
IRCC also advises people travelling with minor children, defined on the page as children under 18, to make sure they know what to do when children travel with them, with someone else or alone.
