British Columbia held a Skills Immigration invitation round with targeted selections for priority occupations in childcare, health care, veterinary care and construction.

Childcare selection targeted early childhood educators

The Care: Childcare selection invited 86 early childhood educators with a minimum score of 99. The targeted occupation was early childhood educators, NOC 42202. To receive a targeted invitation to apply, early childhood educators must have a one-year or five-year ECE certificate issued by the ECE Registry.

Health selection covered priority occupations

The Care: Health selection issued 82 invitations at a minimum score of 76. British Columbia's listed priority health care occupations include health care managers, medical specialists, physicians, dentists, therapists, nurses, health technicians, medical laboratory assistants, nurse aides and social workers.

Applicants with a job offer classified under NOC 33102, nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates, must be registered with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry to receive a targeted invitation to apply.

Veterinary care selection

The Care: Veterinary Care selection had a minimum score of 86 and issued fewer than five invitations. The priority occupations were veterinarians, NOC 31103, and animal health technologists and veterinary technicians, NOC 32104.

Construction trades selection

The Build: Construction Trades selection issued 115 invitations with a minimum score of 94. It covered priority construction occupations including welders, electricians, plumbers, steamfitters, carpenters, construction millwrights, heavy-duty equipment mechanics, and heating, refrigeration and air conditioning mechanics.

Workers in construction trades must have a valid trade certificate issued by, or a trades apprenticeship registered with, SkilledTradesBC that corresponds with the job they have been offered to receive a targeted invitation to apply.

How scores and invitation volumes changed

Compared with the previous September 10 Skills Immigration round for the same invitation types, the childcare, health and construction minimum scores were unchanged at 99, 76 and 94 respectively. The veterinary care minimum score fell by four points, from 90 to 86.

The October 8 round took place 28 days after the comparable September 10 round. Childcare invitations declined by 96, from 182 to 86, while health invitations declined by 61, from 143 to 82. Construction trades invitations increased by 11, from 104 to 115. The source did not provide an exact veterinary care invitation count for either round.
